This is an ongoing chronicle of the many and varied public, semi-private and private pools of the Los Angeles area, as well as other swimmable bodies of water.

It is intended as a resource for those avid swimmers out there who want the low-down on where to go (and where not to go) for some acquatic action in our fair city.

Daily Candy - 17 Gorgeous Pools around the Globe →

This morning I woke up to my usual emailbox full of crapola to find a delightful little treat courtesy of Daily Candy - a gallery of 17 beautiful pools from all over the world. Unfortunately none of them are in L.A. proper, though the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs and the Ojai Valley Inn are both pretty close by. Hopefully I will be able to check those out in the near future!

Where is the most beautiful pool that you have ever swum in? I have gotta think about my own answer to this question, but one place that pops into my head from my early teenage years is the pool, or rather, five pool complex at the Westin La Paloma resort in Tucson, AZ. It had a super fun waterslide and a swim-up bar! Pretty lavish for a 14-year old. Here are a few pics:

All this reminiscing makes me want a vacation! Guess I will just have to head to the pool today instead…
